The future

So I thought a few times today about the future… this little girl might be getting married some day, she might have kids, she might not, she might be into music, she might be good at math, she might lead a life of crime, she might discover the cure to cancer, she might… etc… etc… etc…

It’s so overwhelming to think that Maryellen and I created something (with God’s help) that is so beautiful and perfect right now… and that we’re responsible for her for the next 18+ years.

I keep thinking…. “ummmmm, little help here??” 😉

Well, we’re home now. Life is grand!! I’m floating on a cloud I never knew existed before Sunday at 9:15pm!

We had an Internet connection at the hospital, but it was flaky, at best. I got some photos up to Facebook, but couldn’t get them anywhere else. Now that we’re home, I was able to upload photos from the past 3 days to my Flickr account. Here’s the link to the slideshow. A word to the squeamish… there’s at least one photo on there of the umbilical cord that might be a little alarming if you have trouble with a little blood. But the cord was cool, and there’s a good story to go along with it that I’ll write up before too long when time allows. (-per my cousin Randy… look out for the placenta picture too. YIKES!)

Here’s the link to the slideshow:

It’s a GIRL!!!

From the hospital…

Well, we’re at Flower Hospital in a labor/delivery room… Got here at 2PM… Maryellen’s contractions are coming pretty strong and fast… so there you go!

Oh and….

No baby yet.

A day in the life…

Here’s the first half of my day yesterday in 17 seconds.

And here’s the second half… this time in 36 seconds (I switched it to 12 fps instead of 24 like the first video).

I used my MacBook Pro and a little open source program called Gawker to capture one frame every 30 seconds throughout the day through the built in iSight camera. Pretty cool! This was the first time I’ve played with this program. I think it’ll be fun to try different things with it!!

Testing new image plugin thingie

Found this plugin to do nifty things with images I want to post in WordPress. I think I like!! Click on the image of the Harness House at Worthy Wilderness (Grandma and Grandpa Rife’s place) to see for yourself.

Still no baby…

BUT… our house (and almost all of Elmore) is now on Google Street View! WOO!!!

In case you were wondering….

…and judging from the emails I’ve gotten today, several of you are wondering. No, nothing has happened in the birthing world yet.

Maryellen’s due date is officially tomorrow, however, there’s some controversy regarding whether that date is correct or if it’s a week early. IN any case… the day is getting close.

I think if we have a girl and it’s on 12/7 we have to name her “Pearl” don’t we?? And if it’s a boy… ummmmmmmmm, maybe “Isoroku?”

Whenever the baby comes, I’m sure it will be a day which will live in infamy! 😉

Grandma Rife

My grandma, Eunice Lennox Rife (Bivins) passed away on Saturday morning at her home. It’s a blessing, but she’ll surely be missed a LOT. She got to spend the last 9 days at home. Surrounded by her family and visited by her friends. She was ready to go, but we weren’t ready to let her go.

Here’s the last picture of grandma and me together… last Saturday. Don’t remember what we were talking about, but I’m sure it was something good. 🙂
