First day in the books!
Well, the first day at Autodesk is in the books and it was a good one! I really liked the job environment, my co-workers and even the commute wasn’t all that bad, thanks to Glenn Beck’s “An Inconvenient Book” on my iPod. I think audio books on the iPod will be a life-safer.
I believe the round-trip yesterday was 164.9 miles or something. And the drive home was probably just about a worst-case-scenario with snow and a couple accidents. So hopefully it’ll be smoother sailing in the days ahead.
I spent yesterday setting up my new computer (brand new Lenovo ThinkPad T61p) and installing some software. Sat in on a couple calls with Irvin and went to a couple meetings. Today I’m going to start training on the Autodesk products and will probably be doing that for the next 3 or 4 days.
It’s exciting and good so far! Oh… and did I mention it’s all the free pop I can drink? Vending machines are set to not accept any money. All Pepsi and Coke products are available. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
If I’m slow to respond to emails and the like, I apologize. It’s going to take me a couple days to get settled in and see how much time I’ll have to address personal emails during the day, etc.

Grant, cool!
I have a brand new Lenovo x61 tablet sitting on my desk right now.
I would like to know the time of your commute and compare that to the time of my 30 mile round trip commute into the heart of Austin. Some days it takes me 2 hours round trip with Austin’s woefully outdated road system and population boom. BTW Google just signed a lease yesterday for 25,000 square feet in downtown Austin for an engineering center!
Careful of that free pop (free calories) – which makes me laugh everytime I see the word “pop” these days. You never hear that in the southwest, it is always refered to as soda.
Keep us all updated!
