I didn't have ANY issues with that... but I have learned my lesson in the past and was VERY careful to just touch the still in-tact skin of the portion that I cut off. I even took my contact lenses out that night with no ill-effects. BE CAREFUL though! When mine ripen in my garden (about another week) I'll be wearing latex gloves when I handle them. You know what?
