Thanksgiving wasn’t created as a reason to have too much food and watch football. It was an opportunity for the Pilgrims to give thanks to God for all they had (which wasn’t much in comparison to our wealth as a society today). I’d encourage everyone to give thanks in ALL things. It’s an easy concept when things are going well, but when you hit a bump in the road, or bumps… just remember the following verses. They help me at least…

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. – Psalm 100:4-5

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; – Ephesians 5:18-20

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
