The greatest sandwich ever…
For years I’ve been eating a sandwich that generally makes people cringe when I tell them about it. I don’t think most people even believe me when I tell them it’s my favorite. Well, without further ado… here’s a little photo journal of that greatest of all sandwiches, the peanutbutter, butter & Tony Packo Pickle sandwich!! It’s actually something I adapted from my Grandpa Rife who used to love peanutbutter, butter & pickle sandwiches, but the Tony Packo’s Pickles really make it amazing!!
Starting out…
The ingredients all laid out…
Assembled goodness!!!
Served up with some of my FAMOUS home-made chili for the ultimate meal!

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Peanut butter and butter: good. Packos Pickles: good. Putting them togther: can’t be good.
But then, I used to put crispy bacon on peanut butter toast as a kid.
Are those the bread and butter sweet pickles? Cuz’ if so, I could handle that – If they’re the “pickles and peppers” hot dill ones, then I think I’d hafta hurl.
Yeah, that seals it. You’re weird. *laugh*
In other news, I recently found a video tape of a Channel 11 segment of LaZelle Durden playing at the Rossford High School gym…
Ewwww!
Ewwww, yuck!!! But at least you lowered the fat content with that Smart Balance & Reduced Fat Jif!
That sounds disgusting, but I’m intrigued. Or maybe it’s just the fantastic presentation of the grub…
Will any pickles work, or do they have to be Tony Packo’s?
I sure do miss Packo’s chili cheese fries…my arteries don’t, but, damn, that’s good stuff.
I’ll eat the chili and you can have the sandwich. But I must say, it IS beautifully presented.
But I like saltine crackers on my ice cream…..so who am I to talk?
I think I will stick with Panera’s garden Vegie sandwich on Rosemary Onion foccacia, please. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! Is your homemade chili as spicy hot as the Packos Pickles?
Look, it’s GOOD! REALLY!!! Would I lead you all astray? NEVER!
As far as the pickles go… I’ve tried just about every variety available and have settled on the Packo’s Pickles as the best possible option. These are the Original Tony Packo’s Pickles and Peppers! I prefer the thick and chunky originals, but the thin sliced originals are a suitable alternative.
Like I said, this was originally my Grandpa Rife’s sandwich and I believe he preferred sweet pickles, specifically bread & butter pickles… and that IS a nice sandwich, but in my book, you can’t beat the Packo’s!
And yes, that particular batch of chili was HOT!!! 😉 It was just for me and Maryellen, so I didn’t hold back… or play to the “lowest common denominator” like I normally have to do. 😉
I would have to opt for the “Sweet Hots.”
Let me just say that I was very happy today to find Tony Packo’s Pickles down here in Lexington. Didn’t buy ’em becuase they didn’t fit into the weekly budget, but now I know I can get them in the future. And make myself a Grant Tony Packo Pickle Peanut butte sandwich. Then throw in the fact that my chili beat out yours, it will be a dang fine meal (wink)
